Decide how much you'll risk on one trade and where your stop loss goes. We'll work out the lot size.
How the Loss Limits Work
Both limits are percentages of your starting account size. Break either one and the account is closed.
Daily loss limit
The most you can lose in one trading day, measured from your balance when the day starts. It resets each new trading day. On Instant accounts the daily limit trails, so check the exact level in your dashboard.
Max loss limit
The most your account can lose in total. It's a fixed level below your starting size: on a $100,000 One Step evaluation, equity can't fall below $94,000. Once funded on One Step or Two Step, the limit widens to 10%.
Limits by Account
| Account | Daily loss limit | Max loss (evaluation) | Max loss (funded) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Instant | 3% (trailing) | No evaluation | 5% |
| One Step | 4% | 6% | 10% |
| Two Step | 5% | 8% | 10% |
Drawdown Questions
Do open trades count toward the limits?
Yes. The max loss limit is checked against your equity, which includes the profit or loss on open trades, not just closed ones. Treat the daily limit the same way to be safe.
Does the max loss limit move up as I make profit?
No. The max loss limit is set from your starting account size, so it stays at the same dollar level as your balance grows.
What happens if I hit a limit?
The account is breached and closed. That's why it's worth checking your room before every trade, especially after a losing day.
All Clarity Traders accounts are simulated. The Terms & Conditions are the full rules and take priority if anything differs.
